Jenny Song

Doctoral in Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance 

A native of China, Jenny Song has built a distinguished career as a pianist and educator, with accomplishments spanning both the United States and abroad. She previously received education from Michigan State University and the UMKC Conservatory, and is currently completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Utah. Her principal teachers include International Chopin Piano Competition prizewinner Margarita Shevchenko, MTNA National Piano Competition winner Thomas Rosenkranz, and renowned Chinese-American pianist Ning Lu. Jenny has also participated in masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Alan Chow, James Giles, Kathryn Brown, Deborah Moriarty, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Jeffrey Cohen, Douglas Humpherys, Beihua Tang, and Zhe Tang.

Jenny is a passionate and dedicated instructor with over a decade of teaching experience. She currently serves as a piano faculty member at Utah Valley University and a Teaching Assistant at the University of Utah. Jenny is highly knowledgeable and skilled in working with students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced. With her guidance, students have achieved outstanding results in piano evaluation exams, such as RCM, ABRSM, AIM, and have won or placed in competitions. She has taught masterclasses for Mu Phi Epsilon and has successfully guided students into prestigious music programs such as New York University, the Cleveland Institute of Music, Michigan State University, the Manhattan School of Music, and leading conservatories in China, Shanghai Conservatory, Tianjin Conservatory, and Zhejiang Conservatory.​​​

As a solo pianist, Jenny has presented numerous recitals internationally, including US, China, Singapore, Hong Kong. As an active collaborative pianist, she has served as an accompanist for the UMKC Vocal Department and for chamber ensembles at Michigan State University. Her recent performances include a collaboration with the Salt Lake City Symphony Orchestra and a concert with Utah Symphony violinist Hannah Linz. Jenny also has a strong interest in new music. She has performed Pulitzer-nominated composer Chen Yi’s Duo Ye in the Musica Nova concert and Paul Berlinsky’s Drifting Onwards in the Ravel Reimagined concert.

Jenny has recently relocated to beautiful Utah and established her piano studio in Lehi, where she continues her dedicated service to the community.
